Having an Unlimited Power of the Mind

17th century representation of the 'third eye'...

The power of your Mind is truly awesome.  You can use your mental powers to achieve success that, up until now, you have only ever dreamed of.  It is a Universal truth that life tends to move you towards the physical equivalent of your predominant thoughts and feelings.

A great many people are well aware of this fact but most find it extremely difficult to apply this knowledge and put it to work effectively in their lives. Are you one of those people? If you are, then do not worry because I am about to show you how to overcome this little problem.

It seems to most of us that our thoughts are random, sometimes erratic and beyond our control. Our emotions truly do run us most of the time. When we have an emotional response to a thing we tend to go into automatic thinking as the subconscious programs in our mind take over.

Stephen Covey, in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, shares an experience that he once had while traveling on the subway. Imagine you are riding the subway early one morning, and everybody appears to be comfortable — people are drinking their coffee, reading their newspapers and magazines, working on their laptops, talking on their cell phones. Everything is normal and peaceful. At each station, a few people get off, a few people get on, everything is calm and sedate, until the train stops at a particular station and a man walks onto your train car with his little children. He finds seats for them and then sits down in a reflective mood. While he is in deep meditation, the children begin to run up and down the aisle, screaming and shouting, running all over the train car.

Choosing the Right Form of Therapy for Your Anxious Child

When picking a psychologist it can be very overwhelming and confusing.  In some cases your plan picks your psychologist or gives you a list and in other extended medical plans you can pick your own.

When I was looking for a psychologist, I contacted my local children’s hospital and asked who they recommended and they sent me to a clinic with several psychologists in one building.  I like going to a clinic over someone who is very small in a home.

I have found that the best type of therapy for anxiety disorder is a behavioural therapy called systematic desensitization developed by a South African psychiatrist, Joseph Wolpe.  In simple terms it is the desensitization to your environment over time done in a systematic way.

Mental Health Recovery: Four Keys to Mental Health Recovery

Mental illnesses can be crippling and demoralizing. One can find endless advice on maintaining one’s mental health and on recognizing a mental illness, but today I would like to distill the critical factors for mental health recovery into four succinct points. The four most critical factors in mental health recovery are: housing, employment, stabilization of medication and symptom interference, and the development of a social network.

Housing is one of the most basic human needs, regardless of whether one has a mental illness or is considered entirely healthy. When one reviews the statistics, the rate of homeless individuals who suffer from an untreated mental illness is positively alarming. What is even worse is if these individuals cannot afford basic shelter, there is little hope that they are receiving proper medications, meaning a continual downward spiral is about to take place. Obtaining stable housing is likely the most important factor for mental healthcare consumers on the road to recovery.

What Is the Main Difference Between A, “Clinical Psychologist” and A, “Counseling Psychologist”?

Question by : What is the main difference between a, “Clinical Psychologist” and a, “Counseling Psychologist”?
It has been my lifelong goal to become a therapist and help people overcome their problems. From the research I have done, I have found that to be a Therapist, you need at least a Masters Degree in either or Counseling Psychology. I was just wondering if someone who clearly knows the difference could illustrate the differences. And also, are Ph.D’s available in Counseling Psychology?
